Live in Hannover, Germany, October 17, 1986 ...In October of 1986, just three months after the release of Paul Simon's Graceland album, Ladysmith Black Mambazo flew to London, England to record their first international album, Shaka Zulu. The recording sessions were done at the famous Beatles studio, Abbey Road. The recording went very well and during this time the group's record company arranged for a few concerts in Germany. When the album was finished the group flew to Germany to perform in several cities. This recording of their concert in Hannover, Germany is the earliest full concert recording of Ladysmith Black Mambazo outside of South Africa. It was the beginning of over 35 years of international concert touring. During this concert the group performs many early Mambazo songs that they have not performed since. They even perform a song in German. This is truly a very unique Ladysmith Black Mambazo concert experience. We know you will enjoy it.

On June 23, 1990, four months after being released from prison after 27 years, Nelson Mandela came to Boston, Massachusetts to celebrate the changes occurring in South Africa. Over 300,000 people went to the Charles River Esplanade to see Mandela and listen to the many musicians who came to celebrate his freedom. Tracy Chapman, Jackson Browne, Johnny Clegg and others performed that day. Ladysmith Black Mambazo flew in from a European concert tour for the occasion. They performed a 25 minute show and were joined by a Special Guest on two songs. This important historical recording, while not the best quality, is still very enjoyable and we're happy to share it with our fans who purchase the three album Bundle, as a Free Thank You for your support.
